    Alvin G. Annis was born 3 November 1933 in Earle, Arkansas. He was one of six children born to Robert R. and Reba R. Pairs Annis. His siblings were Iva Louise, Robert Glenn, James Daniel, Cecil Ray and Charles E.   Al was educated in the Parkin and Earle School Systems. After leaving school, he started working for the Campbell 66 Truck Line.
    In December 1955 Al joined the Army. He received training at Fort
and Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He was sent to Germany in July 1956, and while there was a Prime Mover, towing 8 inch Howitzer field guns. The assignment in Germany was in support of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). During this period the Wall was still up and there was a constant threat of hostilities. In 1957 Al returned to United States and was released from service in November.
    Upon returning to civilian life, Al continued in the hauling business.  He worked for East Texas Motor Freight. He worked in the city transit system until he retired.  Al  married Jo Ann Ivy in 1992. They reside in Parkin, Arkansas where he  pursues his hobby of wood working and just being retired.
