      Alvin Franklin Allen was born 12 November 1927, in Wynne, Arkansas, the son of Ross D., Sr. and Myrtle Hodges Allen. Part of a large family, he grew up with brothers: Ross, Jr.; Bill; twins Edwin and Edsel; Clyde and Ira Lee; and two sisters: Edith and Mildred. Alvin was educated in the Wynne School System and left high school to join the Air Force.
    Alvin entered the Air Force 25 January 1946 at Camp Robinson, Arkansas. After completing basic training and receiving additional training, Alvin was sent to the Pacific Theater of Operations. He left the States 6 August 1946 and arrived in the PTO 28 August 1946.   His occupational specialty title was Message Center Clerk 667. He also qualified as a Carbine Marksman.  As a Message Center Clerk, Alvin participated in the occupation of the Philippines after its liberation from the Japanese and served for a while on Luzon.  He left the South Pacific 18 May 1947 and arrived in the United States 2 June 1947.   He was discharged 2 July 1947 at Camp Stoneman, California and received the World War II Victory Medal.
    All seven sons of Mr. and Mrs. Allen served in the military. Three served in World War II and three served in the National Guard at the same time.
    Alvin returned to Wynne and worked for Falls Implement Company as a mechanic, later joining the United States Postal Service at the Wynne Post Office where he worked until his death. Alvin married Venita Southern and they had four sons: Andy, Jack, Terry and Lance. Alvin served twenty years in Arkansas National Guard as the Supply
Sergeant.
    Alvin Franklin Allen died 4 July 1974 and was buried in Cogbill Cemetery, Wynne, Arkansas.
