Clyde D. Allen was born 4 December 1937 in Wynne, Arkansas.
the son of Ross D., Sr. and Myrtle Hodges Allen. His brothers and
sisters are: Ross, Jr., Bill, Alvin, twins Edwin and Edsel, Ira, Edith and
Mildred. He graduated from Wynne High School in 1955.
Clyde was inducted into the Army 2 February 1956 and took his basic
training at Fort
Chaffee, Arkansas. From April 1956 to January 1957 he took Army Security Training and Radio Intercept Operation Training at Fort Devine, Massachusetts. From January 1957 January 1958, he was stationed in Sinop, Turkey as a Radio Intercept Operator of the Army Security Agency. From January 1958 to February 1959, he was stationed at
Camp Walthers, Texas as a Radio Intercept Operator. While at Camp Walthers, Clyde played
on the Flag Football Team that won the base championship. He was discharged 3 February 1959 at Camp
Walthers.
Clyde married Sharon Spencer and they have four children: Kenneth D.,
Terri L:, Lisa
R. and Keith E. Clyde continued his education at Otero Junior College in Kansas and
later at Emporia State University, Emporia, Kansas. He has been employed as a
manager, a plant manager and a school teacher. His favorite hobby is
sports.
