James Arthur "Freck" Anderson was born 26 November
1922 in Wynne, Arkansas, the son of William Forrest and
Gertie Marie Mauppin Anderson. He grew up with six brothers and sisters: Sarah, Helen, Leta, Jack, Bob and Charles. Freck attended the Wynne Public Schools and worked on the farm.
Freck was inducted into the Army 15 Apri1 1943 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was trained as a Gun Crewman Light Artillery and Carbine MKM. He participated in battles in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was discharged 2 November 1945 at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. He had earned five Bronze Stars for the above campaigns and the Good Conduct Medal.
Freck married Grace Simmons and they were the parents of two daughters, Linda and Debra, and one son, Jay.
Freck farmed near Wynne for many years, raising rice and soybeans. His hobbies were camping and fishing.
James Arthur Anderson died 12 March 1991 and was buried in Crosslawn Cemetery, Wynne, Arkansas.
