Raphael Holt (Rafe) Andrews was born, 26 May 1920, the son of John Hotzclaw and Nina Block Andrews in Wynne, AR. He attended the Baylor School in Chattanooga, TN, and received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and then returned to Wynne to assist in family farming enterprises and was President of the Cross County Bank from 1970 until his retirement in 1986.
Rafe married Barbara Jean (Bobbie) in 1956 and they had five children, Holt Barbara, Block, Julie and Marty. He was active in community life in a number of ways, including Wynne City Council, Boy Scouts, Easter Seal Campaigns, the Wynne Chamber Of Commerce, and the Federal Housing Authority. His many discreet philanthropic activities left no plaques or sins but their impact has been felt in many ways throughout the Wynne Area.
He enjoyed reading, sunshine, humor and faraway places. He and Bobbie made a number of visits to Europe, China, Thailand and India.
Raphael Holt Andrews died Friday, 29 August 2008.
