Purple Heart

            Cecil Ray Annis was born 18 November 1923 in Widmore, Arkansas, the son of Robert Pleas and Reba Ray Annis.   Cecil attended school in Earle and worked on his father’s farm.   Cecil married Frances Genett Ivy and their children are Barbara Ann, Robert Lynn, Doris Jean, and Linda Kay .

            Cecil went into service in 1944 and was in combat.   He earned the Purple Heart, World War II Victory Medal and several others.

            After the war Cecil was manager of a cotton gin.   His wife of 57 years died in 1999 and he went to live with his daughter, Barbara, in Hampton, Arkansas.

            Cecil Ray “Big Daddy” Annis died 4 February 2006 in Camden, Arkansas.
