Walter Gardner was born 28 February 1923, in Robertsville, MO, the son of Walter and Esther Bay Gardner. He married Fay Leineke, 20 February 1943, and they had one son, Michael.

            Walter Gardner died at Ft. Roots Hospice in North Little Rock on 8 February 2007 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s at the age of 83. He was buried at Crosslawn Cemetery.
