            James Richard Garner was born 12 February 1932, the son of James Steve and Lottie M. Garner.   He grew up in Earle and spent his summer with his Uncle Robert Munn’s family on their farm on the Cross Co.-St. Francis Co. line.   He had two sisters, Mary Helen and Jewel.   He graduated from Earle High School where he played football for the Earle Bulldogs and was a member of the Earle Bulldog State Championship team.

            James served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge with the rank of sergeant.   He sold construction equipment for both John Deere and Case for more than thirty years.

            After retiring from Potter Equipment Co. in Harrison, he returned to his lifelong passion of  farming near Parkin.

            He had one daughter, Janet and one son Jim H.

            James Richard Garner died 25 July 2008 and was buried in Cogbill Cemetery.
