Cecil H. "Chuck" Mason was born 28
April 1929 in Wynne,
Arkansas, the son of James Walter and Annie Hathaway Mason. He had one sister, Elizabeth, and three half brothers: Eugene Jarrett, Harold Jarrett and Leon Jarrett.
Cecil attended Wynne schools before entering the military.
Cecil enlisted in the Army and served during World War II, two terms
in the Korean Conflict and in Vietnam. Over the years, he received many awards and citations
includmg the World War II Victory Medal; the Korean Service Medal; the Vietnam Service Medal; the Vietnam Campaign Medal; the Bronze Star; the Combat Infantry Badge; the Presidential Unit Citation and the Purple Heart.
After his discharge, he was an employee of the U.S. Post Office
in Illinois for a number of years before returning to Arkansas.
Cecil was the father of four sons: Mike, David, Anthony and Chuck; and two daughters: Jacqueline and Jeannette.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4372 in Odessa, Texas, an avid reader and a Dallas Cowboy fan.
Cecil H. Mason died 6 November 2001 and was buried with military honors
in Harris Chapel Cemetery, near Wynne, Arkansas.
