Hubert (E-thel) Satterfield was born 17 August 1885 near
Jonesboro, Arkansas, the only child of Augustus and Mary
Jeanette (Molly) Satterfield. He was raised by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George H. Adams.
He worked on a farm before going into the Army.
Hubert entered the Army 19 February 1918 at Newport, Arkansas and, after a short training period, was sent to Europe 15 June 1918.
He fought in two major campaigns at Meuse Argonne and AIsace Lorraine. Hubert returned to the States 19 April 1919.
Hubert was discharged 23 May 1919 at Jonesboro, Arkansas.
He was awarded the Victory Medal, two Battle Clasps and two Bronze Stars.
He married Millie Mathews 1 January 1922 and they had eight children: Mildred,
Herman, Harold, Norene, James, Kenneth, Mary and Eugene.
Hubert E. Satterfield died 3 March 1982 and was buried in the cemetery at BeedeviI1e, Arkansas.
